I've got a Vortech SQ with 3.60 pulley on my 4.6l 2v 2003 Mustang GT.
I'm making about 5 lbs of boost and even that is a dog in the heat.
An aftercooler is way out of my price range, so I'm considering an air to air cooler, or other methods of cooling, as I would like to change my pully to get more boost.
Cost effective options are what I'm looking for here. I want more than 301 to the wheels with this blower. I know others even without cooling are pulling higher numbers and feel a little robbed by Vortech. I have the SCT Superchip I bought from your shop when Johnnie did the installation.
Don't get me wrong... my feeling horsepower robbed isn't by the installation, but by the package vortech shipped out.

Maybe Dennis can chime in on this, but with my Cobra, I had a 3.40 pulley making about 7-8 pounds of boost. Then again, I don't know if that was a more feasible and safe level because I had a 4v motor.

Blown One We could install a intercooler or maybe alcohol injection and then bump the boost and timing up to get the power you want.

Thanks Dennis. Good seeing you today. Thanks for getting those plugs changed.
I think the aftercooler is the best option for me right now, since I drive my car every day.
I should have talked with you first, before I ordered my Vortech blower. I could have ordered it with the aftercooler, cheaper than what it will cost me now.

I've done some research and think I'm going with Water/Methanol injection. The reviews show that this stuff has been used since WWII in fighter planes (including the Mustang LOL fighter).
It appears to be safe and the heat of boost probably disintigrates the H2O qualities by the time they ever hit the combustion chamber (and after serving the cooling purpose). From what I have observed, the water has served it's purpose at that point and the methanol is now upping the cool burning and OCTANE count, yet still cooling internal combustion, even at that point.
I see no need to look at other options as this is by far the most cost effective cooling for a blown car who's owner cannot spend the bucks to aftercooler and the results appear to have shown horsepower gains beyond the believed limits of non-forged motors.
So, those are my thoughts... I feel very safe with the documents I have read. Please feel free to chime in, ALL members, since I am open to your opinions!

Since you're looking into this route of intercooling, then look into this guy and best of all, he's based in St Pete.
WWW.ALKYCONTROL.COM (http://www.alkycontrol.com/)
He's here locally and I've been kicking the idea around for a while to maybe add this along with the air to air but am still undecided. Don't go with the stupid Meth and Water combo or the Windshield washer fluid. If you're going to look into it, do the straight Methanol. I've spoken with this guy a few times and I also spoke to Richie (the guy with the white Grand National) his car runs 9.50's in the heat of summer.
Give this kit a hard look.

I have tried water/meth.. Actually lost hp due to physical displacement by water. Would have to up the timing to get more hp. I data logged the IAT. It did not make much of a difference. I do believe the combination was a bit more detonation resistant. I could have added more timing but did not rely on it. I still have the modified win shield tank which serves both purposes. Also still have the control unit and pump if any one is interested.

Well, I went with Dennis' advice. Got an aftercooler. Chad's pulley, my 90MM lightning MAF and a Boost a pump yeilded 427 WHP and 411 Torque. I'm happy as a pig in sh!t, but we're on a tight budget for the next 6 months, lol.
Stock Internals, SQ, 2.95pulley, Liquid/Air Aftercooler, 90MM Lightning MAF, 38LBS Injectors, 255 lph pump, Kenne Bell Boostapump, raised fuel rail pressure, O/R X Pipe with Flowmaster 40 Series.
13.53 PSI Boost, 427 WHP.
